My son loves chocolate. Getting hold of good chocolate that is safe from all his allergens isn’t at all easy though and we often rely on Oma bringing it over from the UK or posting it out to us.
I have seen a few things online about making chocolate with coconut oil and thought I would give it a go.
The result was incredibly easy and I know I will make this again and again. He really loves dark bitter chocolate so this was just his thing. For me I think I will add some orange extract or peppermint oil next time to shake things up a little. The possibilities seem endless…
*60g cocoa
*100g coconut oil
*2tbsp sweet stuff (golden syrup/ maple syrup/agave)
*Optional: A drop or two of flavour (peppermint/ orange)
1. Combine and mix the oil and syrup
2. Add the cocoa and gently melt over a pan with water. Add optional flavour before pouring into moulds or spreading on greaseproof paper. Now is the time to embellish with your chosen decorations.
3. Refrigerate until set, about 15/20 minutes then store in fridge until ready to eat.
